Empowering youth is at the heart of our mission. We believe in their potential and we're dedicated to providing them with the resources they need to succeed. Not every school or community has an equal ability to provide the resources to engage children early and foster their interest in STEM, financial literacy, sports and community charitable acts. We have made it our mission to spark that initial interest and empower children to pursue technical careers, to help minimize bad financial decisions, to gain leadership skills and to be giving patrons of society. Our children are our future so why not set them up for prosperity.

HYES PRIORITIES

  • We are firm believers in the transformative power of STEM education for our youth. With this conviction, our programming is meticulously designed to introduce and nurture future career aspirations at an early stage.

  • Our objective is to empower the youth by fostering early adoption of healthy financial decision-making, thereby equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate and excel in the future.

  • We firmly believe that sports play a crucial role in offering essential structure to the lives of youth, contributing significantly to their future development.

What’s new?

  • Spring 2025: Helms Elementary After School Program

    HYES is back at Helms Elementary After School Program for Spring 2025! With the help of an amazing volunteer, Mahammad Hussain. Mahammad is coordinating and instructing the coding class with coding programs such as Makecode Arcade, Tinkercad and much more! We are so grateful for our wonderful volunteers and supporters from the Houston community! HYES could not EMPOWER our youth without you! Thank you!!

  • Meet our new intern: Cindy Ansong

    Cindy Ansong, a 21-year-old student from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, is pursuing a degree in Adult Educational Sciences and conducting her internship at HYES. Traveling all the way from Belgium, she is committed to supporting HYES' mission: Closing the Gap, one resource at a time. This fall, Cindy will assist in creating lesson plans and co-facilitating workshops for our Fall '24 program.

  • Thank You for Supporting Our "Boil for a Better Tomorrow" Fundraiser!

    Thanks to the incredible success of our "Boil for a Better Tomorrow" fundraiser, we’ve been able to purchase 20 Chromebooks, along with mouse pads and computer mice. These materials will be invaluable in supporting our educational programs.

    We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners and everyone who contributed or registered for the event. Your support is helping us provide the tools needed to empower the next generation.

    Donating Black Hair Care Supplies to Montrose Grace Place

    Our team donated $600 worth of black hair care supplies to benefit LGBTQ+ youth in the Houston area.

  • HYES hires Katherine Morillo, Volunteer Grant Writer

    We’re super glad to welcome Katherine to our team. She brings over 5+ years of Public Health and Non-Profit experience.

  • 2022 Toy Drive

    Thanks to the support of our community we were able to collect 1,009 toys for Houston area Youth.

  • HYES Donates to Biliary Atresia fund at Texas Children's Hospital

    HYES donated $15,000 to the Biliary Atresia research fund to help push forward new discoveries for treatment through research.

  • 2022 Back to School Supply Drive

    Thanks to the fundraising event hosted during DataLog & GeoVision’s URTeC After Party we were able to fundraise $1,608.50 for Back to School Supplies.

  • 2022 URTeC After Party Fundraiser

    With the support of DataLog & GeoVision we hosted a hog ride fundraiser to benefit our Summer Back to School Supply Drive.
